What We're Looking For

We are an arts organisation working towards change and awareness-raising around difficult, but crucial, topics in our community. We need someone who thrives on designing for digital & print, and who wants to support us in conveying important messages that grab the attention of our audiences.

In your role, you will help to design a range of content from social media assets to flyers, zines, booklets, exhibition boards and educational / training resources in keeping with our brand.

The role also involves supporting the company’s Digital Media Coordinator in planning and scheduling social media posts to market company activity in line with the communications plans devised for each strand of our work.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and socially-engaged individual with a willingness to do what is needed to support the day-to-day running of a busy arts organisation.


Duties will include:

✓ using InDesign and Canva to design content for a range of uses,

✓ working together with partners to gather input to feed into design content,

✓ making drafts and taking feedback to feed into the final designs,

✓ using social media management tools to schedule posts,

✓ creating and resizing assets for use in social media posts across a range of platforms,

✓ creating copy to go with scheduled social media posts,

✓ video editing,

✓ updating our website


Person specification:

✓ passionate about our mission & able to demonstrate shared values,

✓ confident to use packages such as InDesign and Canva (not Photoshop please!),

✓ copywriting experience,

✓ strong written and verbal communication skills,

✓ willingness to work as part of a team,

✓ ability to work independently on the completion of a given task,

✓ well-organised,

✓ proactive solution-oriented approach (a can-do attitude),

✓ willingness to ask for help and ask questions where needed,

✓ experience working with partners and teams,

✓ enthusiasm for creating innovative and engaging content,

✓ willingness to work to a design brief,

✓ confident video editor (short form),

✓ experience of and/or interest in all social media platforms and desire to develop SMM (social media management) skills,

✓ confident application of the english language and appropriate editing skills,

✓ website experience would be good, but not necessary,

✓ commitment,

✓ willingness to learn,

✓ attention to detail.


Essential Skills: A minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) grade 5 in English, grade 4 in Maths & grade 4+ in Art or Design


Hours: 25 hours per week


Rate of Pay: National living wage

As part of the Kickstart placement, the Changing Relations team would support you with a personalised Employability Skills programme to help ensure that you gain employment beyond the 6-month placement.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate would work from our office in Bishop Auckland but we are open to a hybrid-working model.
