I've not been to a spoken word event before and I'm pleased to have experienced it. The performers said some interesting and thought-provoking stuff! I'm pleased my girls had the opportunity to be part of the process.

Make Do and Mend Film Screening (Free)

November 30, 2019 @ 2:15 pm - 3:00 pm

Make Do and Mend film

This powerful short film, that audiences have called ‘life changing’, is full of heartache and humour and shares three real North East women’s personal stories of domestic abuse. The verbatim script was created using these thought-provoking accounts and much of the set, costumes and props were designed and made together with them.

The film is full of North East spirit, and can help us all to recognise, understand and respond to those affected by domestic abuse in our communities, so please join us for this special screening in a supportive environment at The Bowes Museum.

During the film, you will have the opportunity to take part in a craft activity as you watch. Before and after the film, you will have a chance to ask questions about the film and domestic abuse awareness, and also to confidentially access support services if you wish.
