Is masculinity toxic? Are you worried about the influence of the manosphere? Would you like help to challenge harmful stereotypes with the young people you work with?

Lads, lads, lads is a zine aimed at encouraging teen boys to question the degree to which masculinity stereotypes are healthy or harmful, and to encourage healthy as opposed to “toxic” masculinity.

Using a mixture of visual art, co-created with Northeast boys and men, alongside poetry and real-life stories, we explore the stereotypes and expectations surrounding masculinity. What is “normal”? Is this a healthy or helpful set of expectations for boys and young men? What do the alternatives look like?

Designed to function as a workbook, Lads, lads, lads creates a safe, non-confrontational space to explore this tricky theme, with space for young people to write or draw their thoughts in response to the questions we pose.

In a time of toxic male influencers, we want to support educators to gently challenge the boys you work with to navigate a healthier lad-hood.
